Now offering the latest technology in microwave verruca treatment
What is swift?
Swift verruca treatment uses microwave energy to treat verrucae in a controlled and precise way.
The microwave energy is delivered directly to the verruca at a predetermined depth. This means that, unlike other treatments, there is no damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. It heats the skin by about 4 degrees, ‘heat shocking’ the targeted skin cells. By activating our heat shock receptor proteins, the cells are triggered into recognising and fighting the virus.

Can anyone have swift?

Swift it suitable for most people. The only exceptions are those with pacemakers, metal work in their foot, or expectant mothers. There’s no evidence against using Swift during pregnancy, but we feel it’s best to hold off treatment while your immune system is busy caring for a growing human!
Although Swift can be used to treat all age groups from age 12 upwards, it isn’t for everyone as it is uncomfortable with people describing it as a sharp hot pain that lasts a second and then goes.
It’s also worth pointing out, that some people might not need all three treatments (usually children or young people) and others need more than three.
We’ll assess and discuss all of this at your first appointment.

What to expect

1st treatment
If you think you have a verruca, we’d first need to see you for a New Patient Assessment appointment charged at the current rate. Existing patients will not be subject to this charge but can be advised in their regular appointment about Swift
We will check this actually is a verruca and not some other dermatological condition, we can then discuss the available options to make sure Swift is the best treatment for you. If you decide to go ahead with Swift, we can start it during the same appointment.

2nd treatment - (4-6 weeks later)
Some patients will see black spots appear beneath the surface of the skin after the 1st treatment, but the size of the lesion may often remain the same as the treatment works by reducing the depth, rather than the width.
The great thing is the majority of patients reported that if their verruca was painful the pain had reduced after their first treatment.

3rd treatment (4-6 weeks later)
Your third appointment will often be your last treatment appointment, although some people may need further sessions

Free check - 16-20 weeks after 3rd treatment
We will check the verruca and see if it has resolved.

Further treatments
Some patients require further treatments and this will be discussed at your reviews with the Podiatrist
